Randy Jackson To Quit ‘American Idol’

randy jackson american idolRandy Jackson, the only original remaining “American Idol” judge is leaving the talent competition show next season.

On Thursday, May 9, the 56-year-old bassist and producer announced his departure the show citing reasons that he wanted to focus on his recording label and other business opportunities.

Randy said that after judging the “American Idol”, he has decided to leave the show after this season. He also said that he’s very proud of how the show changed the television and music industry.

Randy, who appeared on all the 12 seasons of the “American Idol”, made his debut in the judging board alongside Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul, when the show first aired in 2002. He became famous for his easy-going nature with contestant with his catch phrase, “yo, dawg”.

Randy currently judges the show with pop icon Mariah Carey, country singer Keith Urban and R&B diva Nicki Minaj. His apparent exit from the show follows amid Fox reports that the entire show will be revamped with the whole judge panel being replaced for the next upcoming season.
