TV titan Oprah Winfrey is today facing a lawsuit which could see her sued for a staggering $1 trillion dollars over allegations she has passed off another authors work as her own.
Oprah is easily one of America’s highest paid celebrities, and is being sued by author Damon Lloyd Goffe who is accusing Oprah and her TV production company, Harpo Inc, of plagiarising his book ‘A Tome of Poetry‘ in her Internet published work, ‘Pieces of my Soul‘.
Mr Goffe has also claimed that Oprah has even admitted she used his original works in 2008. In the court documents, he writes, “In April 2008 Oprah confessed to seizing original works of authorship.”
Damon Lloyd Goffe and his legal team are seeking the unrealistic sum of $1 trillion in damages, claiming that Oprah Winfrey sold around 650 million copies of the book online for £13 each, he is owed $1.2 trillion.
Goffe does, however, admit that the website which sold Winfrey’s work, is no longer available. Oprah Winfrey and her representatives have refused to comment on the case so far.
