Miley Cyrus and Her Record Breaking Year as Hannah Montana

Bad news was announced last month to Hannah Montana fans, as Disney made the decision to cancel the popular tween series, with the final series 4 going out later this year.

But Miley Cyrus managed to smash all previous records in 2009 with the hit TV Show, Hannah Montana. The original Disney Channel series – which turned Miley Cyrus into a global teenage sensation – became even more of a phenomenon as it achieved new heights of success across the world.

Hannah Montana sold over a million albums, was watched by over 70 million people in Europe and made millions of dollars in merchandise sales. Spokeswoman from Disney, Nicoletta Gelli said: “We firmly set our sights on 2009 being the year of Hannah Montana – the series has achieved phenomenal success.“

The fourth season of the show, which focuses on a teenage starlet’s struggle to be normal, is set to premiere on Disney Channel later this year.
