Justin Bieber may have a massive fan base, but the teen pop sensation isn’t the most followed celebrity on Twitter.
Apparently, that title now belongs to Katy Perry. The “Roar” singer until writing of this article has now over 46,477,000 followers on the micro-blogging site.
Though, both singers are adding new followers every minute, Katy, 29, seems to be rising faster that the 19-year-old Canadian singer. Katy currently has 2,000 more followers than Justin, and could keep on racking even more followers.
Previously, Lady Gaga was the queen on Twitter, holding the throne since 2010, and setting records on the way. In January this year, Justin surpassed Gaga, who had 33.33 million followers, and now Katy passed Gaga with around 39 million followers some 6 months later. Gaga still is Twitter’s #3 most followed celebrities with 40 million followers, and is trailed by US President Barack Obama and country singer Taylor Swift, who have 39 million and 36 million followers respectively.
Katy Perry’s presence on social media has been on the rise for some time, and we are guessing this is because of the recent events, including One Direction singer Niall Horan jokingly proposed to Katy to marry him on Twitter last month.
Katy Perry’s new album, PRISM, has been released on Oct. 18.
