Canadian movie star, Leslie Nielsen, who was dubbed as the father of spoof movies, dies Sunday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The star, who played in the iconic comedy movie Airplane and its sequel, was 84.
Leslie Nielsen started his Hollywood career as a serious actor. However, after starring in Airplane, a disaster movie spoof, he began taking more comedic roles. Other memorable films that the star has played include the Naked Gun movies, which he played alongside Priscilla Presley and O.J Simpson. The series spawned two successful sequels.
He also played in “Spy Hard”, “Dracula: Dead and Loving It”, “Mr. Magoo”, “Wrongfully Accused” — the parody to the movie “The Fugitive” and one of his last box office movies was the Scary Movie series. In one scene of “Scary Movie 4” — the star appeared almost fully nude. Critics then said that it put the scary to the Scary Movie.
Throughout his career, Nielsen has appeared in more than 100 films and 1,500 television programs.
