Britney Spears has released her second single, “Perfume”, taken from her forthcoming album, “Britney Jean”.
The 31-year-old singer is currently preparing for the launch of her 8th studio album next month, and has kept her fans waiting for its release. The new single, Perfume, is completely different from her first single, “Work Bitch”, a candid ballad in which Britney opened up about split from her former manager Jason Trawick in 2011.
The song starts with the lines, “Current girlfriend, ex girlfriend, I’m trying to be cool”, followed by “Am I being paranoid, am I seeing things? Am I just insecure?”
“Perfume” is co-written by Britney and Australian songstress Sia, and is produced by William Orbit and former The Black Eyed Peas singer and The Voice star Will.i.am.
Britney told E! Online that Perfume is very special to her because it’s close to home and the story can be related to everyone. She also said that everyone has experienced an insecure moment in a relationship which has left them feeling vulnerable and she thinks that this song captures that.
Britney didn’t hide the fact that “Britney Jean”, is the most personal album she did in her life, and in a new letter posted on her site, she also conveyed that this album pushed her songwriting talents with the help from her creative team including Will.i.am, Sia and William Orbit.
She said working with people like Will.i.am, Sia and William Orbit, has been an amazing experience. They all listened to her ideas and helped her bring them to life, she added.
“Britney Jean” is slated for release on Dec. 2.
